Senate approves 2 clubs to CAB

Senate approved two clubs—United and Table Tennis—to be a part of CAB. Table Tennis club meets at 7 p.m., Fridays at Ridgeview Bible Church.

Student Senate has allocated $245,547.27 and has $74,440.50 in unallocated funds.

Senator Mauro Ovando talked to Dale Grant, finance and administration vice president, about the cost of water bottle filling stations on campus. The stations are about $960 to $1,350 each, but with the tools that are necessary to install the stations, they will cost $1,100 to $1,500 per station.

Ovando said that the rules that apply to the meal plans are in place to protect students from possibly being peer pressured into buying other people meals.

Deena Kennell, career and academic planning services director, said the food drive to provide food for students who couldn’t leave campus over break went well. Kennell said food was delivered to High Rise, Andrews Hall, Kent Hall, Brooks Hall, and Edna Hall and food was provided for about 40-50 students. There were also cash donations for the food drive that wasn’t needed, so that money will be used to provide food for students who cannot leave over midterm break.

JoAnne Owens-Nauslar has contacted Senate and is available to come to campus to speak on either March 16 or April 13. She will do breakout sessions and a large evening session. Owens-Nauslar was supposed to come to CSC last semester but wasn’t able to due to the weather.

Student Senate President Katrina Hurley and Student Trustee Mikayla Gallagher were absent from the meeting because they were attending the NSCS board meeting in Lincoln.

Hurley wanted senators to know that they will be meeting with Charles Snare, academic affairs vice president, in the Scottsbluff room at 5 p.m., tomorrow. She also mentioned that committees will start meeting next week.

The Vice Chair of Relations and Vice Chair of Records positions on CAB are open so if you are interested in applying for one of them, contact a CAB executive member.

AFB applications for the at large CAB positions are due at 11 a.m., today.
