Delicious Diversity

Diversity is not the first thing that comes to mind when making cupcakes.
Diversity Cupcakes is a unique event that attempts to change this thought through customizable cupcakes. It was in the Gold Room Wednesday night and had 72 attendants.
Attendants were given a blank cupcake and instructions on how to decorate it based on their appearance. This included a light or dark cupcake depending on gender, different colored frosting for hair, and other toppings to indicate eye color, height, and age.
People were also encouraged to take Dr. Phil’s personality test. The test had 10 questions on your habits, such as how fast you walk. Yadira Gurrola, 21, senior of Scottsbluff, said the test was more likely to be believed because of the popularity of Dr. Phil.
She went on to say that it was still entertaining to see your results.
Brittnie Wedel, 22, senior of Omaha, organized the event from an idea she saw on Pinterest.
Organizers were able to beat the previous year’s attendants by around 20 people. Overall, they felt the event was a success.
The event serves as a reminder that each cupcake (or person) is different in their own special way.
