Former student enters plea deal; set for sentencing

Former CSC student Timothy C. Jungquist, arrested in October 2014 in connection with a sexual assault, is scheduled for a April 12 sentencing date following Friday’s motion day proceedings. Jungquist entered into a plea deal Friday, agreeing to amended charges in exchange for a guilty or no contest plea.

Jungquist’s original charges included one count of first degree sexual assault and one count of false imprisonment.

The terms of the plea deal call for the state to dismiss the second count, false imprisonment, and amend the first count to reflect a charge of second degree attempted sexual assault, a class IIIA felony. Jungquist is expected to plead guilty or no contest to the count. The maximum sentence for the charge is five years imprisonment, a $10,000 fine, or both. He also will be required to register as a sex offender under the Sex Offender Registration Act, Dawes County Court documents show.

Jungquist was arrested by Chadron Police Oct. 8, 2014, in connection with a first-degree sexual assault in Andrews Hall that reportedly occurred Sunday, Oct. 5, 2014, Chadron Police Department and Dawes County Sheriff’s officials said.

He was arrested after the female victim reported the assault Oct. 7, 2014, police stated in a press release. The Eagle does not publish the names of victims or alleged victims of sexual assault.

Jon Hansen, vice president of enrollment management, marketing, and student services, said Oct. 22, 2014, that Jungquist is, “no longer a student at Chadron State College.”

Jungquist was released from Dawes County Jail Oct. 15, 2014, after posting a 10 percent of $50,000 bond, following a bond hearing that same day. His original bond was set at 10 percent of $150,000.

In April 2014, he was sworn in as an at large senator to the CSC Student Senate, but he was removed from Senate following the arrest.
