Senate petitions due Wednesday

Petitions for senatorial positions including at large, school, and residence hall senators; and executive board positions are due March 23 to Chief Justice Coy Clark. In order to become Senate vice president, the student must have spent at least half a term, or one semester, on Senate and one full term, or two semesters, for president.

Student Senate allocated no more than $2,000 for Free Movie Night and no more than $1,500 for Free Bowling Night.

Senate allocated $100 for Table Tennis Club to buy supplies. Table Tennis is a new club this semester. They originally asked for $346.70 but the protocol that Senate follows is to allocate $100 for new clubs and the clubs will then ask for more through the AFB hearings for next year. Senate will vote on the budget packets after the hearings.

Table Tennis has already submitted a budget packet for the AFB meetings that are scheduled for this week and next.

Senate allocated no more than $1,500 to help bring Navy Seals to campus.

Eight businesses have committed to donating to Spring Daze. The Bank of the West, Norwesca, and Morfords signed up for sponsorships. Norwesca and the Bank of the West signed up to host booths. Senate President Katrina Hurley said they will only take 60 booths for Spring Daze because there will only be space along the sidewalks for about 60 booths.

The Campus Improvement Committee placed new changing stalls in the Kent Hall restrooms.

The Constitutional Review Committee will host an open forum in the Senate office at 4 p.m. today.

Student Senate approved the Campus Improvement Committee bylaws.

Senate is working with the print shop to hang up posters during Scholastic Day around campus that are against drunk driving.

Mari Sandoz Center Museum Director Sarah Polak apologized for her “unprofessional behavior” at the last meeting she attended. Polak said she will work with Senate so the Mari Sandoz Center can work with and support Senate activities.
