CAB representatives vote for new executive board members

CAB voted in a new executive board Tuesday. The new members have to be approved through Senate Monday and will then be officially sworn in at next Tuesday’s meeting.

The new members are Molly O’Connell, chair; Morgan Carrico, vice chair of programming; Courtney La Mont, vice chair of records; Gavan Archibald, vice chair of finance; and Trista Schell, vice chair of relations.

There were four nominations for chair, three for vice chair of programming, two for vice chair of records, two for vice chair of finance, and three for vice chair of relations.

CAB approved NAMI, National Alliance for Mental Illness, as a CAB-affiliated club.

The new sorority Zeta Alpha Kappa was approved its $100 seed money. They are planning to use that money to design shirts that the members can wear to the Nearly Naked Mile, Spring Daze, and other events during the remainder of the school year.

CAB has $4,724.93 remaining and has spent $10,475.07. Clubs have spent $98,225.19 and have $57,534.05 remaining.

Any clubs with excess funds can donate to the Nearly Naked Mile to help cover costs.

The Nearly Naked Mile committee members are looking for volunteers to help with clothing donations. This year the volunteers will be going to the church to help the ladies from the Rummage Room unload and sort the clothing as well. Those willing to volunteer can find the Nearly Naked Mile Facebook page and send a message on there.

Deena Kennell, internship & career services director, is looking for volunteers to help from 1-4 p.m. Friday during signing day. There will be 100 students plus their guests, Kennell said. Volunteers can meet in the Student Center to help give directions and answer any questions. Those interested in helping should contact Kennell.

Chris Green, director of student activities & recreation,  asked for suggestions for themes for the Week of Welcome and for Homecoming. Two suggestions were Identity Crisis, because Dickinson State University, the Homecoming opponent, is in the process of changing mascots, and the second theme was Red, White, and Blue.

O’Connell reminded clubs that Senate will be voting on budgets Monday. And reminded representatives that Senate will be hosting an open forum at 6 p.m. today.
