CSC athletes win 8 events at SDSMT
The Chadron State track and field team competed at the Bauer Open at South Dakota School of Mines and Technology, Rapid City, winning eight events and posting 24 seasonal best marks.

The men brought home eight winners, three from field events. David Aldridge, sophomore of Omaha, threw 51 feet, 2 3/4 inches to win shot put. Skyler Hoopes, senior of Lusk, Wyoming, cleared 16-1 1/4 winning pole vault. Barrett Browne, junior of Sidney, jumped 22-5 3/4 in long jump.
On the track for the men, Andre Woodson, junior of Sacramento, California, and Lane Higgins, sophomore of Highlands Ranch, Colorado, won the 200 meter dash and 400, respectively.
Woodson’s time of 22.06 seconds is converted to 22.13 due to altitude and currently ranks him fifth in the RMAC, according to track & field results reporting system. Higgins won the 400 running 49.3.
On the women’s side, all three winners were seniors. Tiffany Thomas, of Kingston, Jamaica, won the 200 running 25.2. Nikki Glasson, of Wheatland, Wyoming, took the 400 in 58.74. Shelby Bozner, of Rock Springs, Wyoming, won the 100 high hurdles in 14.2. Glasson and Bozner’s times are both career bests.
As a team overall, the Eagles continue to dominate this outdoor season. The men continue to excel in the throws, sweeping second through fourth in the hammer throw and discus.
Jesse Bleidt, sophomore of Lewellen, placed second in hammer throw throwing 172-10, matching his career-best. Blake Jacobs, redshirt freshman of Highlands Ranch, Colorado, and Frantzlee LaCrete, junior of Lewellen, placed third and fourth, respectively. Jacobs threw 166-11 and LaCrete 157-3, both career bests.
In the discus, Kyle McCarthy, graduate student of Aurora, led the way placing second with a throw of 156-11. Cory Martens, redshirt freshman of Newton, Kansas, placed third throwing 147-5, and Bleidt earned fourth with 147-1.
A number of stand-out athletes did not compete for CSC at the meet, as they look to rest going into their week-long trip to California.
The Eagles will compete at three meets this week across the state of California: the Cal State Los Angeles Twilight Open, Thursday; the Brian Clay Invitational, Azusa, Friday; and the Long Beach Invitational, Saturday.
