Senate allocates $10k for the Nearly Naked Mile

No more than $10,176.32 was allocated for the Nearly Naked Mile. The NNM staff made a few budget changes since they presented the budget at Senate April 4. These changes include more money for the entertainment, less money for refreshments, and less money for prizes.

Any club that has excess funding is welcome to donate their funds to the Nearly Naked Mile to help cover costs.

Senate allocated no more than $200 to buy Platinum Eagle Awards. These will be awarded to one male and one female with at least a 3.0 GPA who is involved on campus and who graduated in summer or winter of 2015 or spring of 2016.

Senate will vote on an allocation of $2,000 to help support the event calendar phone application Director of Student Activities and Recreation Chris Green and Graduate Assistant of Student Leadership Alyssa Bauer are working on. If funded, the application will be available for use beginning next semester.

The chief justice and associate justice positions will be open on the Constitutional Court next semester. The Senate president will appoint people for these positions and Senate will vote on whether to approve the appointments or not.

There will be open forums at 6 p.m. every Thursday to discuss various issues.

Signing Day is Friday and students who are interested in volunteering should contact Internship and Career Services Director Deena Kennell.

AFB budget recommendations were submitted to Senate. Senators will vote on the budget allocations Monday. AFB recommended $26,915.95 in total cuts. There was $231,419.18 total requested and they are recommending $204,503.23 total. Only 15 of the 44 clubs who asked for funding did not receive cuts. Uniformly, clubs were cut 5 percent for a late budget packet, 10 percent for a non-itemized budget, and 5 percent for a partially itemized budget. Molly O’Connell, AFB co-chair, said they made more cuts this year than in both years combined.

She said the cuts are made based on a majority vote by AFB.

The constitutional committee presented its proposed amendments to the Student Association Constitution. The amendments were passed and will be presented on the ballots that open at noon Friday.
