Six artists had their big moment on Friday in Memorial Hall when they put all of their best artwork up for display.
The artists are all in a senior thesis class and are required to show what they have been working on during their time at CSC.
There were many different types of artwork in the gallery including pottery, statues, paintings, and photography.
The attendance was good with the lobby area of Memorial Hall being almost completely filled up with people either eating the Hors D’oeuvres that the art department provided or talking to the artists about their work.
The event went from 3 p.m. and ended at 5 p.m. although people stayed after the event to look at the art. There was a 1920’s style theme for the event, with music from that era playing in the background.
They even encouraged people to dress up in the best 1920’s style attire that they had.
“A lot of people showed up to the event to support us and it’s been going very well so far,” Tauna Letcher, senior of Hay Springs, who was one of the featured artists, said. “My self-portrait is my favorite piece of artwork in the showcase here. It took me about 5-10 hours a day to make and took a total of a week.”
Letcher said the art exhibition is her fondest memory in the art department at CSC and after graduation she plans to move California and find a job as a graphic designer.
Even though the reception was Friday, the art exhibit will still be available for people to view in Memorial Hall until Friday.
