With school coming to a close and students stressed out about their upcoming finals, Late Night at The Pit put on a toga party.

The theme was simply to put on a toga which could have been made out of anything in a person’s room. Although wearing a toga was encouraged by The Pit, it was not required. Music, food, and refreshments were offered for the party goers to enjoy while they were dancing. The event was Thursday, April 21, in the Student Center Ballroom from 9 p.m.- midnight, with the lights being turned on at 11:50 p.m.

The event was advertised by The Pit for at least a week with signs posted all around campus, but that didn’t help the attendance of the event. Only 49 people signed in to attend the party, with many just coming in for a few minutes and deciding to leave. Many of the people who came did not wear a toga and not many of The Pit’s workers wore togas. Low attendance has not been an uncommon thing this year, many events put on by various groups have not been well received by the campus community.

“I think it wasn’t enough advertising leading up to it and the dance wasn’t on a good day. It should’ve been on Friday the day before The Big Event and the Spring Football Game,” Marcus Jacobs, 20, junior of Tampa, Florida, said.

“If I was in charge I would promote the events better throughout the week, so people can really know about the event and generate a buzz about them, and better prizes because people usually come for those,” Enrico Collins, 21, sophomore of Colorado Springs, Colorado, said.
