Those that spoke at the memorial service for Goll spoke of a reoccurring theme, his amazing personality and smile.
“He had the ability to take any situations and make it funny.”
Goll, a defensive lineman, passed away Thursday, Aug. 11, following a team practice.
“Eric was family,” Sam Parker, former CSC football player, said. “He had a fantastic personality. Keep him in your memory. Remember the good times you shared with him.”
Members of the community, students, staff, and the football team attended the service to celebrate the life of Goll. The team felt that the best way to honor him, was to share stories of him and his personality. All of the stories brought a faint smile to the somber crowd, trying their best to remember all the good times they had with him.
Goll was pronounced dead at the Chadron Community Hospital where he was transported from the CSC practice football field,

according to a press release from CSC’s Sports Information Director Kaleb Center.
Goll redshirted during the 2014 season and did not see action last season.

In a press release, Dawes County Attorney and Coroner Vance Haug stated that Goll’s enlarged heart likely contributed to his death. Additional testing and toxicological screenings are being performed as the investigation continues.

“Eric loved life,” Head Coach Jay Long said to the crowd. “He was always smiling, always happy.”
To honor Goll, there will be a moment of silence before the first game. The team will also honor Goll by painting the “E” and the “G” in Eagles on both ends of the end zone of Elliott Field for the entire season.
