Judge issues bench warrant for former student

District Court authorities issue a bench warrant for former CSC student and former CSC Student Senator Timothy C. Jungquist after attorneys were unable to work out details to get Jungquist back to Nebraska as he is serving sentences in his home state of Tennessee.

Jungquist was arrested in October 2014 in connection with a sexual assault. He is in jail in Tennessee on similar offenses. He will be brought to Chadron for sentencing following his release in Tennessee.

Circuit Court records in Cheetham County Tennessee show Jungquist serving two years probation, counseling, and 75 hours of community service in December 2014, for a charge of sexual battery. He was served another term of probation in October 2015 for contributing to the delinquency of a minor and was ordered to stay away from high school and minor children.

Jungquist pleaded guilty as part of a plea deal to reduced charges of attempted second-degree sexual assault on Feb. 12. Jungquist’s original charges included one count of first-degree sexual assault and one count of false imprisonment.

The terms of the plea deal call for the state to dismiss the second count, false imprisonment, and amend the first count to reflect a charge of second-degree attempted sexual assault, a class IIIA felony.

The maximum sentence for the charge is five years imprisonment, a $10,000 fine, or both. He also will be required to register as a sex offender under the Sex Offender Registration Act, Dawes County Court documents show.

Jungquist was arrested by Chadron Police Oct. 8, 2014, in connection with a first-degree sexual assault in Andrews Hall that reportedly occurred Sunday, Oct. 5, 2014, Chadron Police Department and Dawes County Sheriff’s officials said.

He was arrested after the female victim reported the assault Oct. 7, 2014, police stated in a press release. The Eagle does not publish the names of victims or alleged victims of sexual assault.

Jon Hansen, vice president of enrollment management, marketing, and student services, said Oct. 22, 2014, that Jungquist is, “no longer a student at Chadron State College.”

Jungquist was released from Dawes County Jail Oct. 15, 2014, after posting a 10 percent of $50,000 bond, following a bond hearing that same day. His original bond was set at 10 percent of $150,000.

In April 2014, he was sworn in as an at large senator to the CSC Student Senate, but he was removed from Senate following the arrest.
