CAB announces Homecoming themes and activities

CAB allocated $16,428 at Tuesday’s meeting, but the funds still need to be approved by Student Senate. A breakdown of the allocations are as follows: $500 for Homecoming, $1,000 for Friday events, $2,000 for club co-sponsored events, $4,000 for one or two large events, and $8,928 for Free Movie Nights throughout the fall semester. Free Movie Nights are scheduled for Sept. 18, Oct. 23, Nov. 20, and Dec. 11.

Prior to these allocations, CAB had spent $5,136.19 and had $199,386.04 in remaining funds.

Representatives voted on the 2016 Homecoming daily themes. Monday will be Class Color Day, Tuesday is Superhero Day, Wednesday is Greek Day, Thursday is PJ’s Day, Friday is 80’s & 90’s Day, and Saturday’s theme is Mardi Gras.

Events planned for each day are as follows: Monday—bonfire and pep rally; Tuesday—laser tag; Wednesday—coronation, C-hill lighting, and bed sheet winners; Thursday—Late Night dance at The Pit; Friday—Quidditch; Saturday—parade.

Homecoming royalty nominations are due at 5 p.m. Sept. 26. Each club may nominate one male and one female. Voting will take place Sept. 30 to Oct. 3.

CAB gives each club $50 to decorate bed sheets and parade floats. If your club needs supplies, email Athletics Graduate Student Worker Alyssa Bauer at [email protected] to order supplies online or buy supplies from Wal-Mart. CAB will not supply paint for bed sheets this year.

Wal-Mart runs will be Tuesdays and Thursdays but only if a club emails Bauer on Monday or Wednesday and requests it. Bauer also said that clubs can email her throughout the semester for an up-to-date budget.

The CAB executive board reminded club representatives to fill out the CAB information survey by Sept. 2. Clubs should have received the survey in an e-mail, but the survey can also be found on the CSC CAB Facebook page or by contacting a member of the board.

The executive board is hoping to host events for students on Fridays. A CAB event survey table will be in the Student Center from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. today and tomorrow for students to share ideas for events they would like to see on campus.

Associate Athletic Director Chris Green reminded representatives to schedule events with conferencing before submitting them to the Chadron State Activity Guide app. The submission form for events can be found on the Student Senate page on csc.edu.

Vice President of Finance Gavan Archibald reminded representatives that the Activity Fee Board has three open CAB positions. Email Archibald at [email protected] if you are interested in the position.

Vice Chair of Relations Trista Schell asked representatives to email her with event information so she can display it on the screens in the Student Center and the social media pages.

Student Trustee Coy Clark gave a brief explanation of his position as trustee and asked students to contact him with any concerns that he can take to the Board of Trustee’s meetings.

Trista Schell said Closer to Home is looking for volunteers from 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. on Sept. 13, 27, 28, 29, and 30.

CAB Vice Chair of Records nominations will close next week. As of Tuesday’s meeting, there were no nominations.
