CAB approves board member, adds club
A new club was added and a board member elected at the CAB meeting 6 p.m. Tuesday. Chair Molly O’Connell opened the meeting and began with a few announcements.
The info survey that clubs were required to complete closed early, and therefore will reopen for another week. It can be accessed on the CSC CAB Facebook page.
Any club that wants to update their web info must email CAB by the end of the week. Otherwise changes cannot be made again until March 2017.
A new club was approved to join CAB: CSC strength club. A representative said the club’s goal was to “promote safety” for beginners through advanced lifters. They want to help people achieve their fitness goals with guidance, support, and proper technique.
Vice Chair of Finance Gavan Archibald reported that the total spent by clubs this year is $6,201.61 and the total remaining is $198,302.62.
Vice Chair of Programming Morgan Carrico said CAB will be hosting Free Movie Night Sept. 18, but the movie has not been chosen yet.
Vice Chair of Relations Trista Schell reminded clubs to contact her with events they want put on the screens in the Student Center.
Adviser Pat Beu brought attention to National Suicide Awareness week. According to his research suicide is the second-leading cause of college-age student deaths. He urged club members to take initiative in helping at-risk students find help.
“Be conscientious and aware of students who may struggle with depression, struggle with stress, struggle with anxiety, struggle in relationships,” Beu said. “You are going to be aware of those who are at greater risk of hurting themselves before I am.”
Associate Athletic Director Chris Green suggested that the theme for Saturday of Homecoming week be changed from Mardi Gras to whiteout. The CSC football team is making arrangements to wear its white jerseys during the game and would like the crowd adopt the theme.
The Nest will be giving out $500 worth of white T-shirts for the first spectators that come through the gate. The theme change was approved.
Aaron Eagle nominated himself for the vacant vice chair of records position. There were no other nominations, and Eagle was approved.
Schell announced that Xi Delta Zeta donated hot dogs to Closer to Home, but they still need volunteers to help serve the food next Tuesday.
