The Chadron State College Athletic Hall of Fame gained eight elite members in the 2016 class of inductees. Five of the newly inducted members are former football players, two track and field stars, and an All-American wrestler.

Don White, Jim Fairfield, John Chancy, Kory Richardson, and Jarod Moeller make up the football players new to the list of elite athletes.

White earned an All-District award in 1972, recovering eight fumbles, a school record that still stands. He was also the leading scorer for the Eagles, doubling as a place kicker as well.

In the early 1980s, Fairfield was a star wideout for CSC. He earned NAIA District 11 honors. In the 1981 season, he caught 60 passes for more than 800 yards and six scores.

Three of the football inductees were premier athletes in the late 1990s.

Chancy, a starting offensive lineman for three full seasons, helped the Eagles win back-to-back conference championships in 1998 and 1999.

On the other side of the ball, Richardson played defensive tackle. As a senior, Richardson earned RMAC All-Conference as well as being named to the Omaha World-Herald’s Nebraska NCAA D-II first team.

Moeller, a punter for CSC, averaged nearly 40 yards per punt during his career.

Both of the track and field inductees were All-American throwers.

Deron Dolfi, earned the All-American nod twice during the late ‘80s. A three-time NAIA District 11 javelin champion, Dolfi finished third at nationals in his senior season.

Mandy Kubo Chubb, the only female inductee, graduated in 2001 as a dual-event conference champion. She won the shot put and discus throw while placing second in the hammer throw at the RMAC Outdoor Championships. Chubb placed fourth at the national meet and has coached two familiar faces for CSC’s current throwing squad, senior Mel Herl and junior Keri Ruff, both of Eaton, Colorado.

The final inductee Ed Hermsen, marked a 29-9 record his senior year, winning the RMAC tournament at 177 pounds. Hermsen placed seventh at the national tournament.

All the inductees were honored at halftime of the football game Saturday.
