CSC VP releases crime report

Jon Hansen, vice president of enrollment management, marketing, and student services, released the annual CSC Security, Crime Prevention, and Fire Safety Policies and Statistics Report Friday.
The report details CSC’s procedures in each type of emergency and shows the number of offenses reported on campus or CSC property 2012-14.
There was one forcible sex offense occurring in the residence halls in 2012. The report defines a forcible sex offense as, “any sexual act directed against another person, forcibly and/or against that person’s will; or not forcibly or against the person’s will where the victim is incapable of giving consent.”
There were two rape cases and one domestic violence case reported in 2014, all occurring in the residence halls. There were no sex crimes reported in 2013.
The report gave information on campus counseling, which is readily available for the victims of sex crimes.
One case of burglary occurred in the residence halls in 2013 as well as 2014.
Liquor law violations were by far the most frequent offense happening on campus all three years. In 2012, there were seven arrests and 85 referrals for campus disciplinary action. In 2013, there were five arrests and 93 referrals. There were 16 arrests and 70 referrals in 2014.
There were also a few drug abuse violations each year. Three arrests and one referral for campus disciplinary action occurred in 2012. Seven arrests and three referrals happened in 2013, followed by seven arrests and eight referrals in 2014.
There were two cases of weapon possession on campus in 2013 that were referred to campus discipline.
In addition, there was one campus fire statistic. In 2014, there was an unintentional fire in Edna Work Hall, which accumulated an estimated $100-$999 worth of damage.
The report listed important resources such as the police department and campus official’s contact numbers to get help as quickly as possible, should you be involved in one of these offenses.
