CAB: Back to usual business
CAB transitioned from ending Homecoming festivities back to the usual announcements at the meeting Tuesday night.
First, CAB Chair Molly O’Connell announced that clubs must pick up their bedsheet in the CAB office by 6 p.m. today or it would be thrown out. Then, Adviser Deena Kennell drew out the two clubs who won the CAB drawing for Homecoming participation. She drew out Strength Club first, winning $300, and Band was picked second for a $200 prize.
O’Connell also warned clubs about the CAB absence policy in her report. Clubs will receive a warning after the third and fourth absence and after the fifth the Activity Fee Board can revoke the club’s budget.
Vice Chair of Finance Gavan Archibald reported that the total spent by clubs was $22,531 and the total remaining is $181,773.23. CAB has spent a total of $2,453.16.
Vice Chair of Programming Morgan Carrico said the next Free Movie Night will be Oct. 23. She does not know the movie yet, but it will be posted on CAB’s social media.
Kennell announced that the fall Career Fair will be 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Oct. 26 in the Ballroom. She noted that the fair is not just for upcoming graduates.
“If you’re just interested in visiting with some folks, trying to make some connections for future reference or guidance, you should come talk to the folks that attend that,” Kennell said.
She then relayed a message from Adviser Pat Beu, who was not in attendance due to a recent hip replacement. Beu wanted to urge students not to take part in the newly popular clown stunts that keep popping up around the country.
“Halloween approaches, don’t be foolish,” O’Connell added.
She then reminded clubs that there won’t be a CAB meeting next week due to fall midterm break, and said the CAB board meeting will be the beginning of November.
Vice Chair of Relations Trista Schell said that Closer to Home needs volunteers for Oct. 26. She also wanted students to know they can come there for a meal over fall break while the Dining Services on campus are closed. Closer to Home is located in the masonic lodge on the corner of Fourth and Main streets.
