Golfers finish fall season in Colorado
The CSC women’s golf team displayed a record shattering performance Monday and Tuesday at the RMAC tournament No.2, hosted by Adam State University, Alamosa, Colorado, finishing the fall season.
On the first day of the tournament, the Eagles started where they left off at the third day of the Bellevue Invite, repeating their score of 344. Head Coach John Ritzen said that 344 should be the new average to aim for with the fact the golfers are hitting this mark consecutively.
The first day Karson Langley, junior of Sidney, led the Eagles with a career best score of 82. Langley beat her record of 85, which she carded in 2014.
Langley was one of four Eagles on day one to be score under 90. Langley’s 82 tied for 30th out 70 golfers. Sam Ramhig, sophomore of Gering, tied for 50th shooting 86; Mikayla Gallagher, junior of Lead, South Dakota, started in 52nd shooting 87; and Sydney Owen, freshman of Rapid City, South Dakota, ended day one with 89 strokes to tie for 55.
Day two of the tournament the Eagles finished strong with a score of 356.
Gallagher led the second day, shooting 84, one shot short of her career best. Gallagher also shot two rounds below par for the first time of her career this week. She finished off the tournament tied for 43rd place.
Langley came out in day two after the best day of her career with a 91 finishing the tournament tied for 46th.
Ramhig ended day two with a 91, tied for 50th. Owen ended with a 90, tied for 56th, and Kelli Haynes, junior of Whitney, ended with a 97 in 67th place.
“Some girls who were traditionally scoring middle to bottom scored their best this weekend,” Ritzen said. “This helped the team through the tournament and it is doing well to build the girls’ confidence, which we will need in the spring.”
