Steal Away With Steele

Three Dog Night’s “One” is catchy on how lonely being alone can be but sometimes being alone is good for the soul. One time when Three Dog Night is wrong is traveling alone. A solo trip can teach you five main things with the right attitude.
1. Independence
Traveling alone is about as independent as you can be. You are free to do what you want on your own timeline. There is no one stopping you from singing Destiny’s Child’s “Independent Woman,” if that’s what floats your boat.
2. Creativity
No trip will ever go exactly as planned; delays, life, and other opportunities will arise. Configuring your response to whatever is thrown at you can be done in a unique situation. Traveling alone will enable you to be more flexible and imaginative on how you spend your time and money. Changing a plan for one is much easier than for a crowd.
3. Responsibility
Being alone means there is no one there to make sure you don’t lose your boarding pass or remind you to grab your phone charger from the hotel. Traveling alone helps to make you accountable for yourself and your belongings. If you can look after yourself in a new location with new pressures, you’ll be able to conquer anything thrown at you.
4. Self-confidence
Self-confidence is key to every aspect of life. Conquering a new city will give you the greatest boost in self-confidence. You can’t help to think, “I made it out there alone, I can handle the next big adventure.”
5. You’re the boss
Going solo enables a custom itinerary to fit exactly what you want. You can go back to visit the museum you wanted or stop to take another picture because no one is there to hold you back. You can take charge of what happens and when it happens.
May spontaneity and adventure find you!
