CAB adds 2 clubs, talks holiday volunteering

CAB approved two new clubs at Tuesday’s meeting in the Student Center.
Two representatives introduced psychology club, explaining they discuss disorders and other issues specific to CSC. Chess club was the second, wishing to be reinstated from a couple of years ago. Their representative said they are currently meeting at 6 p.m. Mondays in the Reta E. King Library.
Adviser Deena Kennell thanked clubs for signing up to participate in Senate’s Christmas tree fundraiser. She announced that the Professional Staff Association is doing a mitten drive for children 14 and under. Anyone interested in donating winter outerwear to the cause can contact her.
Kennell also said she has contact information for clubs to sign up with the Salvation Army to be bell ringers at Safeway and Wal-Mart for the holiday season.
She then urged clubs to use their stature as student leaders to promote a nonjudgmental campus environment.
Adviser Pat Beu also expressed his concern for students to come together and appreciate the diversity across campus.
“We are grateful for every student that comes to Chadron State College,” Beu said. “We are all diverse and we are all different.”
He also announced that there has been some recent vandalism to picnic tables on campus and urged students to come forward with any information, because “we pay for it.”
Vice Chair of Programming Morgan Carrico announced that Free Movie Night is Sunday. The movies will be “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them,” “Doctor Strange,” and “Trolls.” She said Xi Delta Zeta will be doing a canned goods drive at the door and anyone who donates will be entered to win prizes.
Carrico also reminded clubs there will not be a CAB meeting Tuesday.
Vice Chair of Records Aaron Eagle announced their will be no Wal-Mart trip for clubs today, but there will be one Tuesday, if needed.
Vice Chair of Finance Gavan Archibald reported the total spent by clubs is $34,258.60, and total remaining is $170,254.63. The total remaining CAB budget is $10,279.35.
Vice Chair of Relations Trista Schell said CAB is still looking for volunteers to be dealers at Casino Night Dec. 2.
Native American Club announced its annual Pow Wow will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in the Student Center.
Campus Improvement Committee Chair Carly Slaght said she needs a CAB representative and an at-large member to join the committee. She said they usually meet at 4 p.m. Wednesdays in the Senate office.
Archibald announced there is a soccer tournament 7 p.m. Friday in the NPAC.
