Kent Hall Kegger teaches students about alcohol awareness
Approximately 115 students showed up to The Hub for the Kent Hall Kegger, 9 p.m. Saturday.
Kent Hall Resident Director Jazz Bozner led the event.
The Kent Hall Kegger taught alcohol awareness to the students. It showed the students how to drink safely. They even had people who left their cups unattended lay in taped body print outside of The Hub.
“This event is to promote fun sober events and educate students on a safe party life,” Bozner said. “We’re just trying to promote students to stay on campus and not party and show them there are plenty of things to do.”
They gave out door prizes to people who showed up to the event. The door prizes were basketballs, mice for laptops, water bottles, a Chrome Cast, a skateboard and a bookshelf.
The event also had a water-pong tournament. There were 24 teams of two students playing in the pong tournament. Everyone was excited to participate.
“I won three years in a row, but everyone blows a 3-0 lead,” Isaiah Castellaw, 22, senior, of Scottsbluff said prior to the tournament. “So hopefully we don’t make this a 3-1 record.”
The prizes for first place were large mugs with gold painted ping-pong balls and candy, second place prizes were medium-sized mugs and silver painted ping-pong balls and candy, and third place prizes were small mugs with regular ping-pong balls and candy.
The first place winners were Armando Martinez, 20, sophomore of Lytle, Texas, and Tristan Villand, 18, freshman of Pocatello, Idaho.
The second place winners were Sonia Faitau, 18, freshman of Long Beach, California, and Enrico Collins, 21, senior of Colorado Springs, Colorado.
The third place winners were Justine Stone, 20, junior of Maywood, and Alyse Henry, 20, sophomore of Rock Springs, Wyoming.
“It’s a good event to socialize and meet new people,” Jolee Smith, 19, sophomore of Pierre, South Dakota, said. “I like being able to go places and play pong without having to worry about people getting out of hand.”
