Senate allocated $1,848 in reimbursement for four senators, three members of Senate executive board, Chief Justice Sam Merrill, Justice of the Court Mikayla Gallagher, and Student Trustee Coy Clark, who attended the Senate conference Oct. 26-29 at Peru State College. Senate allocated $600 for the Christmas tree decorating event coming up in December. Last week, 30 clubs signed up at the CAB meeting indicating that they would like to decorate a tree. The $600 will go to purchasing trees for each club.
Clubs will decorate trees to be on display for a silent auction open to the whole Chadron community. The money will be given to the local Care and Share Drive to buy Christmas presents for children who are less fortunate. Tree decorating will be between Nov. 28 and Dec. 2. Senate will then invite students and community members to bid on the decorate trees from Dec. 5-12. The one who bids the most will win the tree to take home.

City Council member Miles Bannan as part of pool finance committee discussed the progress of the city pool. The pool will be available for CSC students with student IDs at no cost. There will also be the possibility of work study and internships available for CSC students. There will also be water safety classes in the facility.
When the pool was proposed and working on funding, Student Senate allocated $20,000 in February 2012 to support the pool, and Bannan said that was some of the first funds the committee received.
Bannan said the facility will offer features such as a 75-foot long waterslide, zero-depth entry, swimming lanes, walking track and a physical therapy pool. The building is expected to be completed Jan. 10 but the committee is still fundraising. Bannan came to request a second donation from Senate to help cover the last part of the financing for the pool. The donation will be discussed at the open forum at 5 p.m. today. There will also be another pool representative at the forum to answer questions from students.
