Eagles lose home debut 94-74

The Eagles started both halves strong against Northern State University, Aberdeen, South Dakota, but couldn’t close the game, losing 94-74.
The Eagles started red-hot, thanks to two 3-pointers from Darius Polley, junior of Amarillo, Texas. A few possessions Bronte Corbray, junior of Seattle, hit a pair from deep to push the score to 16-11, in favor of CSC. After that, CSC’s offense cooled off, going into the half down by 15 points.
The second half was nearly identical to the first.
Warren Gordon, senior of Indianapolis, hit a three to start the half to spark CSC’s offense. The Eagles put together a 15-4 scoring run and took the lead at 51-50. The Wolves offense started to break the pressure and NSU ran away with the game.

As a team, the Eagles shot 48 percent from the field and more than 50 percent from long range, but the Wolves rarely missed an opportunity, shooting 61 percent from the field and 67 percent from behind the 3-point line. The Wolves also outrebounded CSC 33-26.
Gordon and Polley led the Eagles in scoring with 16 each. Jordan Perry, junior of Murrieta, California, added 14 and Corbray chipped in with 13.
Five Wolves scored double-digits, led my Justine Decker, sophomore of Huron, South Dakota, with 23.
The Eagles will play Montana State University-Billings, Tuesday at 6 p.m. in the Chicoine Center. They Yellowjackets are 1-3 and have lost two in a row.
