CAB chair resigns, board position open

Vice Chair of Records Aaron Eagle ran the CAB meeting Tuesday night, as he announced that CAB Chair Molly O’Connell has resigned, leaving a position open on the executive board.
Vice Chair of Programming Morgan Carrico was absent Tuesday, but will be replacing O’Connell, who resigned due to a family emergency, according to Eagle. That leaves the vice chair of programming position open for nominations. The candidate must be a CAB representative for more than one semester to qualify for the position. Anyone who meets this qualification can email a board member or stop in the CAB office to apply. Voting will take place at 6 p.m., during next Tuesday’s meeting.
Vice Chair of Finance Gavan Archibald reported the total spent by clubs is $43,746.47 and the total remaining is $160,557.78.
Archibald also itemized the budget CAB will be asking Senate for this semester. CAB is requesting $8,000 for Free Movie Nights, $1,050 for small programs, $5,000 for two large programs, and $2,000 for contingency funds, totaling $16,050.
Eagle announced the Free Movie Nights for this semester are Jan. 29, Feb. 12, March 19, and April 23.
Vice Chair of Relations Trista Schell announced that the club fair, which all clubs are required to participate in, will be from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Jan. 18, in the Ballroom.
Schell also said that Closer to Home is looking for volunteers to help serve on Jan. 13, 17, 24, 25, and 27.
There will be a Magic the Gathering card tournament at 5 p.m. Saturday. The event will either be in the Student Center or The Hub.
Interim Director of Assessment and Academic Affairs David Nesheim announced CSC’s Martin Luther King Jr. Day agenda and encouraged students to participate in the activities Monday, particularly the MLK Day March from Main and Third streets to campus.
“Wouldn’t that be rad, your whole club shows up and marches as some sort of form of solidarity?” Nesheim asked.
All sessions will be in the Ballroom, aside from the keynote speaker in the Chicoine Center. See the full shedule of events at right. Social Science Club and the Diversity Committee are sponsoring the event.
