Golfers shoot season best

Sam Rahmig, sophomore of Gering, led the CSC golfers to their best two-round tournament score of the season at the Colorado State University-Pueblo Pack Invitational, Monday and Tuesday. Six teams competed at the invite, CSC finished fifth.
The ThunderWolves also claimed the top team spot with a team total of 630 strokes. CSC’s two-day total was 695.
Rahmig completed the first round tied for eighth place, shooting an 82. She improved to finish sixth of 27 golfers, with an 80 in the second round, finishing with a two-day total of 162. CSU-P’s Jacquelyn Porman, senior of Gilbert, Arizona, finished with a 148 to claim the top spot individually.
Mikayla Gallagher, junior of Lead, South Dakota, improved on a first round 90, carding an 82 in the second for a total of 172, tying for 16th.
Junior Kelli Haynes, of Whitney, finished with a 174, and just three places behind Gallagher. Karson Langley, junior of Sidney, finished with a 187, a season-best.
The Eagles have one more regular-season tournament before the RMAC Championships. They will travel to Grand Junction, Colorado, for the Maverick Spring Invitational on April 17-18, hosted by Colorado Mesa University. The conference championships are April 24-25 in Chandler, Arizona.
