Eagles for Life club joins CAB

A new club, Eagles for Life, was approved at the CAB meeting 6 p.m. Tuesday in the Scottsbluff Room.
Kellen Washut, senior of Casper, came to represent the club and explain its purpose of “promoting life at all stages at Chadron State College.” Washut said the club seeks to educate men and women about abortion and encourage pro-life legislation and functions.
By a majority vote CAB approved the club, with just one club voting no.
CAB Chair Morgan Carrico opened the nominations for the CAB board positions. Vice Chair of Programming Trista Schell was nominated for the Chair position, although she will be leaving in December.
At-large member Makenzy Petty was nominated for Vice Chair of Programming. Sen. Tierra Snyder accepted a nomination for vice chair of finance, after declining two prior nominations for the chair and vice chair of programming positions. There were not any other nominations, but they will be open for one week.
Next, Carrico asked for ideas for Homecoming themes next year, which will be on Sept. 23. Greek Olympics, decade days, sports, “Harry Potter,” “Lord of the Rings,” and jungle were a few ideas given.
Schell told clubs they must have orders for Spring Daze booths in to Senate by Friday. She also announced the topics for open forum will be Spring Daze, Nearly Naked Mile, and hiring speaker Charlotte Brown to come to campus.
Vice Chair of Finance Gavan Archibald announced the total remaining budget for clubs is $102,009.91 and the total spent is $106,127.32.
Vice Chair of Records Aaron Eagle announced that Jon Bon Jovi is hosting a Twitter contest to crash one school’s graduation ceremony and perform his 2016 song “Reunion.”
Eagle encouraged students to post photos of their favorite college memories with the name of our school and the hashtag “JBJReunionContest” by April 23.
Schell told students to be checking their eaglemail over spring break to vote for Senate elections. The elections open April 17.
Archibald announced CAB will be hosting a pool party on April 28, and is looking for assistance with the event.
