Accurate news, that’s our agenda

Journalists in today’s world are thought of as having a hidden agenda, of stretching the truth, and of attacking certain people. Journalism is claimed as “fake news.”
Merriam-Webster’s dictionary defines journalism as “the collection and editing of news for presentation through the media, the public press, an academic study concerned with the collection and editing of news or the management of a news medium; and writing designed for publication in a newspaper or magazine, writing characterized by a direct presentation of facts or description of events without an attempt at interpretation.”
Journalists are often thought of as threats, as enemies, typically by individuals who claim journalists are out to get them.

It is time to leave CSC.
I started my college career at Chadron State on New Student Orientation day Aug. 15, 2013. I attended my first class on Monday, Aug. 19, 2013, sat through my first newspaper meeting Tuesday, Aug. 20, 2013, and my first story was published Thursday, Aug. 22, 2013. My byline featured the title sports editor in the Aug. 29, 2013, edition of The Eagle.

Say thanks before you walk

To the Editor:

Seniors, it’s that time of year again. Graduation. The long-awaited culmination of your educational career is less than two weeks away. Where are you going, and what are you going to do? Many of you may have jobs lined up and many of you may take a little time to figure it out. But before you leave school in the dust, I want to leave you with one piece of advice. Take a look back and thank the people that have helped you get where you are today.
