Welcome to Chadron State College, whether you are returning or just starting. It’s that time of year again. Classes are starting, football season is creeping up and freshmen are thrown into the college life.

As students moved back in to the residence halls and the check-in tables quickly filled, the number of incoming students appeared higher than last year. Lisa Stein, director of admissions, confirmed that enrollment for freshmen is greater than a year ago.

The future of the coffee shop in the library, Book Ends, continues to be a topic of debate. Some members of Senate including President Carly Slaght felt that Book Ends was quite costly, “not being used enough,” and presented some complaints regarding noise. Senate proposed ideas and alternatives, such as a barista could be hired on campus. Until the Student Senate comes to a verdict, however, Book Ends remains on the first floor of the Reta E. King Library. Student Senate discussed plans concerning future senators of the resident halls.
