Chadron Police Department investigating local vehicle thefts
The Chadron Police Department is investigating reports of multiple vehicle thefts and property thefts out of vehicles in Chadron.
In a press release from the CPD, released Monday, “vehicles targeted by the subject(s) were both locked and unlocked and items taken included electronics, purses, tools, loose change, and easily movable items of value.”
The thefts occurred during the nights of Aug. 24-25.
Of the two vehicles that were stolen, the keys were “readily available within them,” according to the press release. One of the stolen vehicles has been recovered.
The missing vehicle is a silver 2000 Chevrolet Silverado, with a Nebraska license plate number 61416R. There were also two motorcycles stolen that have not been recovered, a 2014 Honda Enduro, Nebraska plate number 6978; and a 2000 Kawasaki mini bike.
CPD is asking everyone to keep vehicles locked and remove valuables from the vehicle, or move them out of sight, and do not leave the keys inside the vehicle.
The CPD is asking for public assistance with the crimes.
“At this time the suspect(s) involved with these crimes remain at large,” the press release states. “We are asking if anyone has any knowledge or information related to these crimes or have observed or sees anything suspicious in their neighborhood; to immediately call the Chadron Police Department.”
