Golfers start season Monday
The CSC golf team will tee off its season Monday and Tuesday, at the Farmer’s Insurance Sam Proal Invitational, in Pueblo, Colorado.
The Eagles’ roster is slim this fall, with only four members listed, and only one returner.
Sam Rahmig, junior of Gering, was consistently among the top Eagle performers last season, and will look to do the same this year.
The three new comers are all freshman.
Logan Kasten, of Cheyenne, Wyoming; Tori Meschke, of Broken Bow; and Adrianna Weeldreyer, of Newell, South Dakota, will all experience their first collegiate invite. Weeldreyer looks to be a promising underclassmen, with her best 18-hole score of 76.
Kasten and Meschke both have personal bests in the mid-80s.
Last season, the Eagles finished 11th out of 14 teams at the season opener. They did, however, finish in front of RMAC opponents Black Hills State University, Spearfish, South Dakota, and Adams State University, Alamosa, Colorado.
Rahmig, then a sophomore, was CSC’s top performer, recording an 89 in the first round and carding an 86 in the second, for a total of 175. She tied for 48th individually, out of more than 70 competitors.
Mattye Mason, a current senior of West Texas A&M, won the individual title with a two-round total of 146.
