Hungry, Hungry Humans
RLA took a real-life take on the children’s game “Hungry, Hungry Hippos” with their version of the game during the “Hungry, Hungry Humans” event last Friday in The Hub.
RA Mackenna Broeder, 21, junior of Spearfish, South Dakota said the inspiration for the event came from the game itself.
“A lot of the prizes are childhood themed, games we played as kids,” Broeder said. “It’s kind of like reliving your childhood.”
Participants at the event were paired up, and one team member laid on a scooter. The other team member controlled the “hippo” by steering them with their ankles.
The goal?
The “hippo was to use a laundry basket, which is supposed to be the hippo’s mouth, to capture as many plastic balls as possible in the allotted time.
The anticipated turn out was 60 people, but only 41 students came to Friday’s event.
However, that didn’t stop those who came to the event from joining in on the activity.
Kenade Tomjack, 19, freshman of Chambers, said she came to the event because it looked fun.
“It reminds me of what we did at post-prom, but the prizes are better,” Tomjack said.
RLA’s next event is Fear Factor, from 9 p.m. to midnight on Friday, in The Hub.
