‘The Office’ offers words of wisdom for students
This Saturday, one of America’s most beloved television series will have aired their first episode 13 years ago. “The Office” was nominated for 42 Emmy Awards, winning five times. It won two awards for its directing, two awards for editing and one for best series. In honor of this wonderful series, I am dedicating this week’s column to some of the most relatable quotes. I am limited to a word count so I unfortunately can’t include every single quote from the show. Sorry, friends.
One that I tend to relate to the most is Michael Scott saying, “I am running away from my responsibilities.”
There are too many times during the week where it would just be easier to take a nap or watch Netflix than to do my homework or any other responsibilities that I have. But we all know that Michael Scott is not the most reliable person. So, dig deep down and try to find your inner Jim Halpert who always manages to enjoy his job even when Michael Scott is being annoying and ignorant.
Sometimes you wake up and you feel like you are Dwight and could conquer the world. One of my favorite quotes of his is, “I am ready to face any challenge that might be foolish enough to face me.”
There are days when you really are motivated and could do anything. You should remember this quote for the good days and the bad ones. Just remember Dwight had it right, which doesn’t happen a lot. So, mark these words as something to build yourself motivation for the day!
The final quote that I want to leave you with is from the final season from our beloved Pam, “There’s a lot of beauty in ordinary things. Isn’t that kind of the point?”
As the semester is slowly coming to a close, remember to enjoy the things that are going on in your life. Whether it’s just having a breakfast date with friends, going to a game or going on a walk around campus, it’s the little ordinary things that we take for granted everyday, and they won’t last forever. So, enjoy every day!
I hope you all have a wonderful week! Live everyday like pretzel day my friends.
