CSC Rodeo team excels at Eastern Wyoming College
The Chadron State College Rodeo team traveled to Torrington, Wyoming over the weekend to compete at Eastern Wyoming College.
Despite a seventh place finish in Torrington, the men’s team managed to hold onto their fifth place position in overall standings.
The team showcased their talents at the rodeo in the steer wrestling, bull riding and bareback events.
Ethan Lesiak, senior of Clarks, won the bull riding in Torrington with scores of 76 and 80. Lesiak was the only bull rider to stay on for both rounds.
Dakota Rice, senior of Kellogg, Idaho scored 64 points for the team on his first bull. He didn’t ride his second bull, but still took second place at the rodeo.
Devin Dibbern, sophomore of Riverdale brought home another first for CSC’s rodeo team this weekend in the steer wrestling. He turned in a time of 6.1 on his first steer and a time of 5.7 on his second, giving him a total time of 11.8 for both rounds.
Prestyn Novak, senior of Newell, South Dakota won the opening round of the steer wrestling with a time of 5.7, but did not receive a time in the next round.
Rowdy Moon, junior of Sargent won fifth in the
bareback riding scoring 66 points in the first round and 67 in the second round.
“As a team, we are practicing hard and improving each and every day. We are blessed enough to get to do what we love, even when our weekends don’t go exactly as we hoped them to,” Merisa Cominiello, sophomore of Burlington, Colorado, rodeo team member said. “We are looking forward to the rest of the season and finishing strong,”
Chadron State College’s Rodeo team will compete next on April 6-8, at Colorado State University in Fort Collins.
