CPD doesn’t want to boot you, but they will

Beginning Saturday, those who park in front of the Chadron Aquatic Center may get the “boot” from Chadron Police.
In a Monday press release, CPD will become more strict about enforcing parking regulations “along East 10th Street near the Chadron Aquatic Center.”
The press release states that the Chadron City Council approved no parking on East 10th Street between 2-5 a.m. in that area. The “No Parking” ordinance has been regularly enforced, but the CPD is having a hard time issuing citations to the owners or drivers of the vehicles. Due to these difficulties, the CPD will turn to immobilizing vehicles using a “boot.”
The “boot,” or wheel lock, will be placed on illegally parked vehicles, along with a sticker that informs the owner how to have the boot removed. If the vehicle is not moved in less than 48 hours, it will be towed and the owner will still be issued a citation. In addition, they will be liable for the towing bill.
The warning sticker states that CPD is not responsible for any damage caused by the boot if a driver of the vehicle attempts to move the vehicle. The owner or driver is responsible for the damage caused to the “boot.”
The press release states that any “tampering with or attempting to remove the boot by your own means may subject the individual to further criminal sanctions.”
