CAB elects new Vice Chair of Public Relations

CAB members voted in Sadie Sheppard, junior of Fargo, North Dakota to fill the position of Vice Chair of Public Relations, after CAB re-opened nominations Tuesday night. Kenade Tomjack, sophomore of Atkinson, was nominated to run against Sheppard.

During the meeting, CAB Chair Kimberly Hernandez opened up a vote to approve the new meeting time for CAB, which would move CAB meetings from Tuesday nights to Monday nights. CAB representatives approved to move the meeting time to 5:00 p.m. on Monday nights prior to the Senate meeting at 5:30 p.m. The change will not begin until Sept. 17.

“We are giving you another week to find your CAB Reps., so we’re meeting on Tuesday next week,” Hernandez said.

Revised club packets were due during Tuesday’s meeting. If clubs have not turned in their packets, they must be in by the next CAB meeting. If clubs do not meet the deadline CAB will cut five percent of their budget.

Student Trustee Dawson Brunswick announced that there will be an open forum during next Tuesday’s CAB meeting to discuss the use of $200,000 of student fees toward the new outdoor track facility.

“There is an account that part of your student fee money goes to for PAC improvements, and there’s a pretty penny in there,” Brunswick said. “The college is asking that student senate contribute $200,000 of that amount to the building of the outdoor track facility.”

Each year for homecoming, clubs are required to do a float for the parade, decorate a bed sheet or both. In the past each club has been given $50 to put toward their decorations. This year for homecoming week CAB will give each club $50 to put toward floats, but not toward bedsheets, as they are trying to promote more clubs to create floats.

CAB Adviser Megan Northrup announced that the Big Event applications are open. Those who are interested in working for the Big Event should contact Dr. Shaunda French-Collins. The application deadline is Sept. 14.

The first free bowling night of the semester is from 6-9:00 p.m., Sunday night at
