Senate cuts funding for club trips

On Monday, Senate voted to allocate $200,000, from a fund designated for NPAC improvements, towards the construction of the new outdoor track facility.

There was a vote which resulted in a budget cut for Sigma Tau Delta’s trip to a regional conference at Wichita State University in Kansas. STD only received $147.40 of their requested  $1,118.00.

“The reason we cut the budget is because they submitted their trip package two months late, and also their trip package was not filled out correctly” Lelisse Umeta, sophomore of Ethiopia, said.

It was also noted that the activity fee board only approves $100 in gas for each club trip, but STD requested $600. The trip is scheduled for Sept. 21 – 22, but the trip forms were submitted on Sept. 7. AFB requires that forms are submitted two months prior to any scheduled club trips.

Another cut was voted on for the Music Teacher National Association’s trip to Kearney for the NMTA State Conference. The request of  $337.00 was decreased to  $269.60. Senate voted to cut the request by  20 percent because the trip form were submitted a month late.

Senate voted to cut funding for Wildlife Club’s request of $460.82 to $350.73. The funds are for club shirts.

Senate voted to approve $450 for Phi Beta Lambda’s trip to Omaha for the PBL state conference.

The events committee decided on the date for Senate and CAB’s leadership training. The training will be on Nov. 3 in the Student Center and will feature two three-hour courses, one session in the morning and one in the afternoon.

Free Movie Night, hosted by CAB, will take place at the Eagle Theater at 6:45 p.m. on Sunday, and will feature the movies “The Nun,” “Predator” and “House with a Clock in its Walls.”
