RLA and Project Strive host football party
Project Strive teamed up with the Residence Life Association to host and sponsor a Monday Night Football party at 6 p.m. in the Hub.
Around 60 students arrived throughout the night, enjoying complimentary pizza and beverages while cheering for either the Denver Broncos or the Kansas City Chiefs. The room was divided, with a wall-mounted television on one side for Broncos’ fans, and another mounted on the opposite wall for Chiefs’ fans. The Chiefs’ fans had a celebratory night as the Chiefs triumphed over the Broncos, 27- 23.
This football event was hopefully the first of many, according to Amanda Lewin, of Chadron. Lewin is a retention specialist/adviser for Project Strive. She discussed her hopes for Monday Night Football parties to become a new tradition at the Hub, even if they can only occur once a month or during major games.
Project Strive is a student support service, offering additional advising and resources for members. Leah Guerrero, 20, sophomore of Greeley, Colorado, is a member of Project Strive and helped manage the event with Lewin.
She explained that the Monday Night Football party is just one of many events that the organization puts on in an attempt to alleviate students’ stress.
Among these other student functions include arts and crafts workshops, goal setting seminars and informational workshops.
