Wrestlers honored
Ten CSC wrestlers were honored last week with the release of the NCAA Division II Basford rankings and RMAC pre-season wrestling awards.
Both Brock Thumm, senior of Watervliet, Michigan, and Rulon Taylor, senior of Curtis, were named Pre-season All-RMAC, Tuesday, Oct. 6, and eight other CSC wrestlers joined Thumm and Taylor among those ranked in the Basford rankings new Super Region 6.
The new region, according to CSC’s Sports Information Department, includes eight RMAC schools, in addition to Nebraska-Kearney and Simon Fraser, of British Columbia, Canada. The Basford regional rankings are a proprietary ranking of NCAA Division II and TheOpenMat.com. Eagles’ wrestlers ranked as follows:
-Thumm, first at 141 pounds
-Taylor, third at 285 pounds
-Wade French, junior of Harrimon, third at 197 pounds
-Chance Karst, sophomore of Powell, Wyoming, fifth at 141 pounds
–Tate Allison, junior of Moorcroft, Wyoming, fifth at 165 pounds
-Aspen Naylor, junior of Syracuse, Utah, fifth at 184 pounds
-Clay Eagle, freshman of Ashland Ohio, seventh at 120 pounds
-Chase Clasen, senior of Moses Lake, Washington, seventh at 149 pounds
-Matt Hebel, junior of Erie, Colorado, seventh at 174 pounds
-Jacob Otuafi, junior of Sparks Nevada, eight at 157 pounds
The Eagles’ team was ranked fifth in the regional as a whole.
Saturday the group will hold a public practice outside of the Chicoine Center, at 10 a.m.
