Farewell CSC students: A letter from Dr. Pat Beu
My wonderful CSC student friends:
You may or may not have heard that due to fewer enrollment numbers and budget cuts my position has been eliminated at Chadron State College. My last day will be the end of January but I will possibly be gone before that time. Because you have been such dear friends I wanted to let you know and not have it come as a surprise. You truly have been why I have loved my work with the students at this college. I really have appreciated your friendship and association.
There are many things I would like to tell you. I think the edited article by Grace Valentine of Baylor University summarizes most of them. Mostly I want you to know that I have come to know in my life that there truly is a God in heaven who loves us. He cares about you and where you are headed and what a tremendous impact you can make in this world. He has the ability to guide and direct your life. I have experienced that guidance. If ever I impacted your life in a positive way, I attribute the influence of that divine guidance.
Please go forth and have a wonderful life. If I can be of help for you please let me know.
Good luck and God speed.
College is tough and life is hard. You are going to have moments where all you want to do is celebrate life with your best friends, but you will also have moments where you just want to lock the door, ignore everyone, and have a good cry. Never forget that your worth comes from something greater than your Biology grade, or whether you are in a relationship or not.
So never forget that although classes may be hard, and you don’t look like you did at 17–God is still good. Finally, I would add only one thing. Don’t do stupid. The consequences can hurt.

Truths College Students Need To Hear Right Now
by Grace Valentine of Baylor University
1. The best memories are ones you actually can remember.
2. God isn’t going to ask you if you were in a sorority or fraternity or a part of an athletic team at the pearly gates.
3. You may have failed a test, but not your life.
4. Numbers and grades don’t define your value.
5. Including how much you weigh.
6. As well as if you are a “7/10” on a so-called “hot scale.”
7. Or if you can bench press 200 lbs. (@ all the guys at the gym, please chill.)
8. Innocence is nothing to be ashamed of.
9. Neither are mistakes.
10. But learn from your mistakes. Mistakes can be lessons, which can be the biggest blessing.
11. Your metabolism isn’t what it used to be and that is okay.
12. You may not always understand what God is doing, but I promise He has a plan.
13. Every person you meet is battling their own struggles.
14. Life isn’t always great moments.
15. But you have to walk through the forest to get to the mountain top.
16. A broken heart isn’t permanent. It is temporarily broken but it will be fixed.
17. However, the only one who can fix a broken heart is the one who created it.
18. So a cute boy or hot girl can’t put the pieces back together.
19. Neither can ice cream (but ice cream can totally help).
20. Stop yearning for your ex. They are your ex for a reason.
21. Loving Jesus means loving people, especially loving the image of Him in the mirror you see.
22. Stop crying and hiding your emotions in the bathroom or behind a locked door. You have people in your life who care about you.
23. Suicide is never the answer.
24. Visit with a counselor, minister or mentor.
25. Do you feel your heart pump? Do you feel the air exiting your body? That is a sign you are here for a purpose. Your life is no mistake.
