Majority vote approves CAB meeting time change

CAB members carried a majority vote to move meeting times to 4:45 p.m. Monday.

CAB Chair Kimberly Hernandez, senior of Scottsbluff, said the move was proposed to make it easier on attending students and staff.

CAB will host its spring semester club fair from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 23, in the Scottsbluff room. The club fair is mandatory for all clubs and a member must be present at their table for the whole event.

The Activity Fees Board is hosting workshops for clubs to go over packets and budget hearings. If a club fills out a budget packet incorrectly, a five percent deduction to its budget will occur.

“Spring semester is primarily known for AFB hearings,” Lelisse Umeta, sophomore of Nigeria, said in regards to the importance of the workshops.

Budget packets are due March 1. AFB hearings are scheduled for the week of March 11-15, with Monday through Thursday dedicated to hearings and Friday reserved for appeals.

92 students attended Free Bowling Night on Sunday.

CAB is hosting Free Movie Night Sunday, Jan. 27, at the Eagle Theater. Doors will open at 6:45 p.m.

The Social Science and Diversity clubs are co-sponsoring Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Jan. 21. The event, titled “Grassroots Rural Civil Rights”, will begin at 9 a.m. and features Associate Professors of Justice Studies, Social Studies and English Dr. David Nesheim and Dr. Thomas Smith as speakers. From 11 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Selma will be shown, and at 1:30 p.m. the MLK  Jr. Day Walk will begin at Common Cents. The day will end with a 2 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. student-led panel on diversity experiences.

RLA saw over 50 students participate in its “Blind Book Date” program.

RLA is hosting a pancake breakfast feed, 7-9 a.m. Friday, Jan. 18. There will be a Kahoot night on Monday, Jan. 21.
