RAs get pied
Cream pies scattered the floor Monday night in the Hub for RLA’s Pie Your Resident Adviser.
About 50 students gathered to throw pies at an resident adviser or associate director for a good cause. Students who donated a dollar or a canned good were able to throw a pie at an R.A. If a student donated $5, they had the option to throw a cream pie at an A.D.
RAs from every dormitory participated in the event. Lena Aslan 20, Sophomore of Elizabeth, Colorado, was among the RAs being pied.
“I picked a bad day to be an RA,” Aslan said.
Anthony Zimny, Associate Director of Andrews hall, helped plan the pie-throwing event. Zimny said he had used this kind of levity before at another school, and it was a hit with students.
“Sometimes resident advisers are seen as authority figures, so this gives students a de-stressor.” Zimny said.
The canned goods are being donated to a local food bank. The money will be used for other RLA events. Zimny explained that events like this are helpful when it comes to funding RLA programs.
“It [events like Pie Your RA] is used to have a stronger budget to put on better programs,” Zimny said.
RLA’s next event will be a pancake breakfast in the Edna Conference room, tomorrow at 7 a.m. On Monday they will be hosting a Kahoot Night in the Hub at 7 p.m.
