Join The Eagle: contribute to campus history
Would you like to pad your resume? Do you want to make it look like you can take on the world? Better yet, do you want to be prepared to take on the world?
The best way to do that is learning to write well, record events correctly and do good to others. One place you can find this on campus? The Eagle newspaper.
Working for The Eagle, whether you are a reporter or you contribute an opinion every week, makes you a published writer. This is something that makes a resume stand out. Contributing to The Eagle is so much more than being part of a club or being an active student on campus.
Writing is a critical part of working for the paper, but it also counts in the working world. The Eagle helps you improve your writing skills while also allowing you to contribute to campus. Copy editing and reviewing articles improves your mind and grammar skills. If you overlooked something in your own work, copy editing others’ work may help you become more aware of your own writing faults.
Another skill you learn with us is photography. Having a creative eye, or developing one, helps produce one of the best parts of the newspaper: the pictures. Everyone loves looking at pictures, and with an eye for the visual your contribution goes the extra mile.
If you are not confident in your writing or photography skills, we are here to help. The biggest part of this newspaper is teaching students and supplementing your learning. We will help you gain the knowledge and courage you need to improve your skills as a writer, photographer and student.
This newspaper has been the voice of CSC since 1920 (if you do the math, that’s nearly 100 years of student voices!) This means The Eagle has recorded all major events that has happened at CSC since then. The Eagle gives you a chance to contribute to history, not only has a CSC student but also as an key member of something bigger.
Do you have something meaningful you’d like to share? We take opinions and publish them every week. From political standpoints to fuzzy feelings, the paper takes it all. Like stated before, The Eagle keeps students on campus informed of recent events and turns those recent events into written history. Helping students stay in the know is a big contribution to campus.
Whether you are science, art or business major, there is a job for you here. We are always looking for someone who is honest, and if you’re ready to work hard, take risks and build great skills, The Eagle has a place for you.
