Five minutes every day can help
We are half way through the semester everyone. The eighth week of school is coming to an end and hopefully midterms are out of the way for the most part.
Around this time every semester most students just try to make it to the end of the semester.
They count down the weeks and try to make it to that final 16th week of the semester. But there is still quite some time between now and then that every person can make the most of.
I want to encourage everyone to do something every week to try and improve on. Try to find something that only takes up five minutes of your morning to improve your day. Five minutes. That’s it. That really is not a lot of your time to improve your day, but it can make a big difference in the long run.
With these five minutes there are quite a few things you can do. So, take five minutes and try one of these simple ways to lower your stress, boost your mood, and get more energy.
This one is going to sound more of a clean freak thing, but take the time to make your bed. Some people don’t really see the point in making a bed if you are just going to sleep in it at night. However, it has been proven to enhance the calmness in your environment when you make your bed in the morning.
Another thing you can do in about five minutes is cleaning your desk or where you have a mess in your room or house. From old homework papers, to coffee mugs, to random stuff you’ve just happened to set down there. Take some time to organize that space.
One that I highly recommend is to take some time to stretch, mediate, or just mindful breathing. All of these are something you don’t need a lot of space for and you can do by yourself. You can also look up videos on YouTube to guide you if you’ve never done any of these activities before.
Any and all of these things can help you get your mind and body ready for the day or can calm you down after a long day.
One last suggestion I have is to turn off your phone, TV, tablet, or whatever electronics and take some time to write.
You can write about whatever you are thinking about, maybe something that bothered you that day, maybe just write down your to-do or grocery list.
The time you take just to write something could really improve your day or even better prepare you for an upcoming event in your life.
The purpose of taking some time out of your day to do something along these lines gives you a better foundation to your day. Even though we all want to sprint to the end of the semester, there is still a lot of time to make the best of every day.
You can start building time into your days to make little life improvements. Each of these tiny differences can improve your life vastly in the long run.
Even if you think it’s just a lousy five minutes, it can make all the difference. Take those five minutes for yourself and watch your life improve.
