Graphic novelist, Krosoczka book signing Monday

The Common Reading Experience sub-committee is presenting a book signing event for Jarret Krosoczka’s “Hey, Kiddo” on Monday, Oct. 28 from 10 to 11:30 a.m. in the Student Center Ballroom.

“Hey, Kiddo” is a graphic memoir about growing up in a family struggling with addiction and finding the art that helps you survive. The book was a finalist in the 2018 National Book Award for Young People’s Literature.

The goal of the Common Reading Experience is to build community and foster empathy, according to Christine Fullerton, Public Services Librarian and a member of the subcommittee for Common Reading Experience.

At the beginning of the year, each freshman received a copy of the book. The book could be used in their classes to provide a common topic of discussion.

Fullerton added that the book touches on difficult issues and hopes readers enjoy interacting with liturature that is different than they normally would.

After the presentation, students will have the opportunity to meet Krosoczka and get their copy of the book signed.
