Students test their Eco-friendly knowledge
RLA set up a booth 11 a.m. – 3 p.m., Tuesday in the Student Center in an attempt to make the planet great again.
They asked students passing by to take a five-question quiz about the environment. Taking the quiz qualified students for eco friendly prizes if they got questions right. Answering up to three questions correctly allowed participants to choose between bamboo cutlery sets, metal straws or toothbrushes. Answering four questions correctly won them a reusable bag and if they got all five questions correct, they had a choice to enter in a drawing for a hydro flask or pick any of the other prizes.
When students were finished with the quiz, they would go over the answers with them, educating them about what is destroying the environment and what they can do to help.
Sadie Sheppard, 20, senior of Fargo, North Dakota, and Lydia Privett, 21, senior of Wahoo, both said they wanted to put on this event because they are passionate about the environment and want to make a difference.
“We want to show various types of sustainable living by showing people things like reusable bags and metal straws,” Sheppard said.
The event’s main goal is to educate people about the environment and what is hurting it. After students took the quiz, RLA asked them to fill out an evaluation form so they can see the impact they made with this event and how they can improve on it. The message they want to send is to simply make the environment great again.
