System office approves new student trustee

The hunt for current Student Trustee Samuel Klammer’s replacement began in September when it was announced that the application for the position was open to all students.

Now, after five months of going through a rigorous application process and built up anticipation, it was announced at the January Nebraska State College Systems Board of Trustees meeting in Lincoln that Konery Klueber, senior of Rapid City, South Dakota, was appointed by Gov. Pete Ricketts to fill the position upon Klammer’s anticipated graduation in May. His year long term officially starting in June.

“I’m really, really blessed to have received the position,” said Klueber. “I’m really excited to take some of the student goals and student ideas we have going into the next year and apply that to the Board of Trustees as a whole and the Nebraska College System as a whole.”

Klueber is earning a degree in justice studies-legal studies and a minor in military science. Apart from his role as student senate vice president, he is the president of War Eagles (company commander), a member of Blue Key, a Chadron State student ambassador, and an eagle mentor.

As student trustee, Klueber will attend the meetings of the NSCS Board of Trustees and speak on behalf of the CSC student body when making decisions concerning the student population. He must then report any information that relates to the college back to student government, where the information can be spread to students across campus.

To help him get acquainted with his new position, Klammer has started to lead Klueber through the various aspects of the job.

With Klueber filling the student trustee position, his current position of student senate vice president will be left vacant at the beginning of next year. At this time, there is no decision on who will fill that seat.
