CSC club budget packets still due Wednesday
AFB is not extending the budget packet deadline but will consider extensions to those clubs needing more time
While CSC’s student body enjoys an extended spring break thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic, there’s still work to be done for CSC clubs. According to Activity Fee Board Co-Chair Lily Umeta, the board will continue with a deadline of 11:55 p.m. on Wednesday for club budget packets.
Umeta said the board has received just five packets so far.
In an email sent to club presidents and advisors Monday afternoon, Umeta said “AFB didn’t see a reason why we should postpone the deadline considering we have given everyone more than a month to work on budget packets.”
The board held its budget packet training Feb. 24, the Monday before Midterm week. On March 9, CSC’s spring break began and has yet to end. The extension affected office hours Umeta had planned, she said, and even though the deadline for packets is being kept, extensions have been granted.
“I have extended the deadlines to organizations that contacted me and I will (continue) to provide time to those organizations that need it,” Umeta said.
Given the uncertainty with the immediate future, Umeta said AFB doesn’t have enough information to decide if budget hearings will continue as planned March 23 through 26.
“What I can tell you is AFB is working to figure out ways to go over budget packets as planned and hold budget hearings when we get back next Monday,” Umeta said. She also said AFB is looking into other ways they could handle the hearings, including video chat, if school officials decide to go online-only through the rest of the semester.
“If there is any other better way to go about this moving forward, we are open to suggestions,” she said.
Umeta said she understands this is a hard time for everyone.
“If organizations need time, then that’s what I will give them,” she said. “If they have any questions or concerns all they need is to contact me. When I get more information, I will contact club presidents and advisors with an email.”
