Meet your senator: Chioma Asielue
Chioma Asielue, freshman of Abuja, Nigeria.

Why did you decide to run?
“I decided to join senate for a multitude of reasons. One of which is because I needed the experience and the exposure. (I needed to take) a different track from my major and see how I can incorporate them together to help improve my professional and leadership skills and how it would benefit me in my career ahead. Another reason why I decided to run for the senate is because I knew that joining the senate would help me get involved and participate more in student activities while also working to help others too.”
What are your platforms?
“To be very honest with you, I didn’t have an initial platform. I just know that a student at CSC, I have a greater responsibility to perform to the other students of the college other than just myself and my academics. I have a purpose which is to help people and I believe that one way or another, through the senate program, I would be achieving or accomplishing that purpose.”
In 5 years where do you see yourself?
“I don’t really know what the future has in store for me in five years but I really hope to have a career along the fields of health professions (I’m still having a hard time figuring it all out). I also hope to be a better version of myself in every aspect of my life including my career and I believe that joining the senate would, one way or another, provide me with the skills and opportunities that would give me the experience that I need for that.”
What are your goals as a senator?
“I just have one general goal. To help people, in any way that I can.”
What is your message for the students?
“One thing that I can say to others as I have learned is to be good. Be good to yourself, be good to others, never think that you’re alone and all you need to do is reach out and ask for help. “
