Western upgrades

Historical buildings and playground equipment are getting an upgrade at Nebraska’s Fort Robinson State Park.

The park is getting a western themed upgrades to its playground equipment, which will include a stage coach replica and hay bales as part of the play equipment. 

The historical lodging buildings are from the early 1800s and will be receiving inside and outside maintenance. 

The two water towers found at the park are planned to be painted this year as part of the upgrades.

A handicap ramp is being installed on the porch of the main building, which is used for lodging and as the parks headquarters. 

A $1.27 million campground expansion is also being added to the park. 

The ongoing Fort Robinson Aquatic Habitat project will be moving onto phase two. This phase includes Carter P. Johnson Lake and Crazy Horse pond renovations.
