Midterm Pumpkin Painting Destresses Students
By Olivia Bryant
Students got into the Halloween spirit by painting pumpkins from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Tuesday in The Hub. Over 100 pumpkins were provided to students by RLA, as well as paint and paintbrushes.
Resident Advisor (RA) Constance Roeber, 19, sophomore of Hooper, led the pumpkin painting night and said she wanted to do the event because she likes painting and Halloween.
“I thought this painting event would be a great stress reliever for students during midterm week. I hope students found this event enjoyable and helped them get in the fall spirit before break begins,” she said.
RLA also provided Halloween candy, popcorn and pop to students as “The Nightmare Before Halloween” and “Hocus Pocus” played in the background.
Pumpkins of various sizes included designs ranging from ghosts, bats, and skeletons to flowers, polka dots, and cactuses.
“I find painting very therapeutic, and this event is a great way to start off the fall season,” Kelcie Van Anne, 20, junior of Dalton, said. “I liked seeing what everyone else was painting and this is a great stress reliever during midterm week.”
Roughly 85 students had attended the midterm event at 8:30 p.m.
As a reminder, students will be written up if pumpkins are found in the hallways of the residence halls. Pumpkins can be disposed of by walking them down to the dumpster and not being thrown down the trash chute. Failure to follow these rules will result in pumpkin painting events not happening again.
