Students paint the night away to beautify the library

Around 20 students came down to the HUB Monday, Oct. 11, at 6 p.m. to paint a canvas that will be placed in the Rita E. King Library starting next week.
Students were asked their name and hometown to be taped on the back of the canvas then they could choose from the multiple colors of paint, different styles of brushes to use along with cups of water, paper towels, snacks, drinks and door prizes to be given away throughout the night.
According to Christine Fullerton, public services librarian they did this 3 years ago. The gallery where these paintings will be hung is in the downstairs basement of the Rita E. King library.
“I hope that the colors and different styles of artwork will bring some light to the dark basement,” Fullerton said.
While students showed off their art skills others painted for fun with groups of friends.
Once dry Fullerton will take the paintings and hang them up in the basement of the Rita E. King library to be shown off in the Rotating art gallery.
“It’s a fun event for students to show off their artwork other than in Memorial Hall gallery,” Fullerton said.
The paintings will remain on display until May of 2022.
